Unibank Commercial Bank OJSC became the Chief Official Sponsor of the Azerbaijan Football Championship.

The relevant agreement was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Unibank Faig Huseynov and the President of the Football League Ramin Musayev at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Baku today. The agreement between Unibank and PFL is signed for three years and envisages the placement of the advert spots and banners of the Bank, the use of the sponsor’s symbols in the coverage of the League matches and the preparation of the special Unibank promo campaigns at the Championship.

‘The sponsorship of the Premier League is a sheer example of how a bank and the Football League can collaborate,’ Faig Huseynov commented at the signing ceremony. ‘We trust in and support the Azeri Football and we are ready to act as the Chief Sponsors of the Professional Football League because we believe that this sponsorship will provide yet more favourable conditions for the progress of this sport in Azerbaijan.

‘We consider this sponsorship agreement as the beginning of the partnership between the Azeri business and the Azeri sports, to the benefit of, first of all, the footballers,’ the president of PFL Ramin Musayev said. ‘I’ve got to admit that we had other sponsorship proposals but the package of proposals from Unibank was the most beneficial and practice-proven. PFL plans to spend a portion of the sponsorship allowance on refurbishing the existing grounds as well as on building the new football grounds in the settlement of Ramani.’

Unibank’s sponsorship of the Football League is beneficial to the Bank as well as to the Azeri football professionals united in PFL. According to the terms and conditions of the sponsorship agreement between Unibank and PFL, the national Football Championship is called Unibank Premier League as of today. Besides, the Championship will have the special Best League Player Prize that will be awarded on a monthly basis on consideration and assessment of the footballers’ achievements and regardless of their club associations.
